On Saturday the 8th 2018, during the inauguration of the Thessaloniki International Trade Fair, ONEX SHIPYARDS through Panos Xenokostas, President & CEO, expressed an interest in the acquisition of the two main Attica shipyards, in Skaramangas and Elefsina. In three letters handed out respectively to the Greek Prime Minister, Alexis Tsipras, the US Secretary of Commerce, Wilbur Ross and the American Ambassador to Greece, Geoffrey Pyatt, ONEX has proposed the en bloc acquisition of the two shipyards, and Xenokostas announced that is interested both in the commercial and the military sections of the Skaramangas’ Shipyards. The US Embassy in Athens greeted the expression of interest by ONEX, saying it is wonderful to see the announcement of a new US investment of that caliber in Greece.
