Pupils of the Holy Metropolis of Syros Sunday Schools, visited the Neorion Shipyards on Sunday,
February 17, 2019, accompanied by Archimandrite Nikolaos Gavallas, Father Konstantinos Kontos
and their parents.
They had a tour of the historic shipyard by Mr. Grigoris Bilios, Safety Officer, and they were
impressed by the facilities of one of the most important shipbuilding plants of the Mediterranean, a
real source of life for their island, Syros, and the beginning of a new era for the specific field in
Greece.
At the same time they had the opportunity to meet Mr. Panos Xenokostas, President and CEO,
ONEX Group, Mr. Vasilis Savvidis, General Manager of Neorion Shipyards, Mr. Antonis Hatzantonis,
President of the Workers Union, Mr. Markos Rigoutsos, General Secretary and other members of
the administration who attended.
For his part, Archimandrite Nikolaos Gavallas, Head of the Sunday Schools of the Holy Metropolis of
Syros, expressed his warm thanks for the opportunity given by the Administration of the Shipyard for
the students' visit, as it was a unique experience that excited them and wished them of his own and
of His Eminence Metropolitan of Syros, Dorotheos II, every success in the work of Neorion
Shipyards for the benefit of local community.
At the end of their visit, pupils were given a small treat as a token of their presence to Neorion
Shipyards
